A partial front runs about $900 to $1,400 and a track pack $2,200 to $2,800. Quotes for the same film differ mostly in which panels count, how edges are finished and how much prep is included.

What each package covers
Package names aren’t standard. One shop’s “partial” can be another shop’s “full front.” Here is how most menus line up:
- Partial front: the bumper, the leading part of the hood and fenders, and often the mirrors and headlights. A Maryland shop covers half to three-quarters of the hood. A Rockville, Maryland, installer warns a partial may leave a visible film line.
- Full front: the whole hood, whole front fenders, bumper, mirrors and usually headlights. A Seattle installer also adds door edges.
- Track pack: full front plus the rocker panels and the A-pillars beside the windshield. The Seattle shop adds rear bumper corners.
- Full body: every painted panel, including doors, roof and rear bumper.

These are shops’ published prices and ranges, checked in October 2026, not quotes for your car. The two shops that price every tier show a clear pattern:
- Moving from partial to full front added $900 at both.
- A track pack added another $400 at the Maryland shop and $700 in Seattle.
- Full body cost about 2.8 to 2.9 times their full front price.
Location moves the number too. The South Jersey shop says its prices run slightly below northern New Jersey and New York City-area shops.
Why quotes differ by thousands
The panel list. A partial front that covers the hood’s leading edge differs from one that covers three-quarters of it. A full front with door edges and headlights differs from one without.
Vehicle size. The Kent shop’s full front runs near $1,500 on small cars and near $2,500 on full-size SUVs and trucks. Big hoods and fenders use more film and more hours. Our guide to cost by vehicle size shows the same effect for detailing.
Edge work and trim removal. The Kent shop says its prices include disassembly, reassembly and edge work. It says edges can be wrapped around the panel or trimmed flush. It says badges, mirror caps, lights and trim come off so film tucks behind them. It ties wrapped edges to film that stays put instead of lifting. The Seattle shop says an install takes one to five full days of labor.
Prep. The South Jersey shop says fixing paint before film goes on locks in a clean surface. It lists a single-step polish at $300 to $400 and multi-step correction at $600 to $1,000. A short prep polish isn’t the same thing. The Midwest quote below included one hour of polishing for coating adhesion, not swirl removal. Our guide to getting swirl-free paint on a new car explains why new paint may need it.
Bundles. In one community discussion, a Midwest owner of a new electric SUV shared a $4,325 quote for film, coating and tint. A multi-service discount cut it to $4,000. The film alone was $2,500 for full front plus rockers and lower doors. Several commenters said they paid $1,500 to $1,800 for similar front coverage. A poster’s price is one data point, not a rule.
What a fair quote shows
Ask for these in writing before you compare two shops:
- Film maker and product line, plus the film warranty length.
- Every panel covered, including how far up the hood a partial goes.
- Whether edges are wrapped, and where seams will be.
- What trim, badges or sensors come off and go back on.
- What prep is included: wash, decontamination, polish or correction.
- The shop’s own workmanship terms and turnaround time.
One film maker’s limited warranty excludes improper installation, so the shop’s terms cover the install. Our guide to PPF problems that deserve a redo explains the difference. For finding a shop worth trusting, see how to find a reliable detailer.
Which coverage do you need?
- Partial front suits a lease or short ownership, if you can live with the film line.
- Full front is the common middle ground for highway commuters.
- A track pack makes sense where salt, slush and gravel hit the lower doors.
- Full body fits a car that street-parks in a tight city or has paint that’s costly to match.
For a one-time drive, cheap front-end protection for a road trip may be enough. When film reaches the end of its life, removing old, yellowed PPF covers that cost too.
