A full mobile detail on a sedan costs about $239 to $425 on the standard-tier price lists we checked, and the same package on a 3-row SUV, van or large truck costs roughly $30 to $55 more. Interior-only details start at $150 to $249 for a sedan, and a basic exterior wash can start under $100.
These are list prices from seven mobile detailers’ own websites, read on 2026-10-08. They are starting prices, not quotes, and packages differ in what they include. Use them to sanity-check a quote, not as a guarantee for your city. See how we get these numbers.
Full detail price by vehicle size
A full detail means interior and exterior in one visit. Providers split vehicle classes differently, so the columns are approximate.
| Provider (location) | Package | Sedan | Mid-size or 2-row SUV | Large SUV, 3-row, van or truck |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dennis Auto Details (San Diego) | Standard Detail | $239 | $249 | $259 truck, $269+ for 3-row |
| Dennis Auto Details (San Diego) | Complete Detail | $349 | $359 | $369 truck, $379+ for 3-row |
| Fresh Layer (San Diego) | Complete Detailing | $349 | $369 | $389 |
| Halo Mobile Detailing (Nashville) | Full Detail | $245 | $285 (small SUV) | $300 (large SUV or minivan) |
| Wash Doc (Fort Worth) | Full Detail Package | $425 | $450 | $475 |
Two things stand out. The spread between providers is far larger than the spread between vehicle sizes at any one provider: sedan prices run from $239 to $425, while the step from sedan to the largest class is $30 to $55 (+$30, +$40, +$50 and +$55 across the four providers in the table). And the package tier matters more than the vehicle: one San Diego detailer charges $110 more for its Complete package than its Standard one on the same sedan.
A Charlotte-area provider lists a flat size add-on instead: +$0 for a sedan, +$25 for a small SUV, +$50 for a mid-size SUV, +$75 for a big SUV, van or truck, and +$95 for a big truck. Its page does not say which services the ladder covers, so treat it as a sign of how size is priced there.
Interior, wash and higher-ticket services
Other services step up with size too:
- Interior-only detail, sedan. a Chicagoland detailer from $150, then $189 and $249 in San Diego and $200 in Nashville. The Chicagoland truck or van price is from $195; the San Diego largest class is $289.
- Exterior wash, sedan. the Chicagoland detailer from $75, then $99 and $159 in San Diego. Its truck or van is from $95.
- Paint correction, from. the Chicagoland detailer lists $600 for a sedan, $700 for an SUV and $800 for a truck or van. An Austin provider lists paint enhancement and protection from $400, $450 and $500 across its classes.
- Ceramic coating, from. the Chicagoland detailer lists $800 for a sedan, $1,000 for an SUV and $1,100 for a truck or van. For tiers and what the years mean, see our ceramic coating cost guide.
What drives the price
Package tier. The same vehicle can cost close to twice as much depending on the package. A sedan at the Nashville detailer is $245 for the Full Detail and $435 for the Premium Package. At a San Diego detailer it is $239, $349 or $569 across Standard, Complete and Luxury.
Condition. Pet hair, sand and stains add labor. Pet hair removal is listed from $35 in Charlotte, $25 to $100 in Nashville, $40 per 30 minutes in San Diego and from $75 in Austin. Another San Diego detailer lists $49 to $149 for pet hair or sand. Surprise fees like these appear on our list of booking mistakes to avoid.
Travel. One San Diego detailer includes mobile service throughout the county, and another includes travel within a 30-mile radius. The Charlotte-area provider says a travel fee can apply for distance or remote locations. Several other pages do not mention a fee, so ask.
Time. The Nashville detailer says a full detail takes three to four hours and its premium package four to six; the Fort Worth detailer says about three to four hours. The Chicagoland detailer lists interior detailing at two to four hours. Bigger vehicles take longer, which is what the size step covers. How to read a quote
- Ask which vehicle class you are in. A crossover can be “SUV” at one company and “2-row” at another. Our tips on finding a reliable mobile detailer cover the other checks to make.
- Ask what the package includes. Compare steps, not package names.
- Treat “from” and “starting at” as the floor. Most providers describe their prices as starting estimates.
- Mention pet hair, sand or stains upfront. They are the most common reason a final price moves.
For upkeep between details, a basic kit is enough: two-bucket car wash kit with grit guards and spray wax or ceramic spray sealant for car.
Limits of this data
This is seven providers in six metro areas, a snapshot of asking prices on one day rather than what customers paid. Some pages contain inconsistencies: one San Diego detailer’s grid lists $369 for an SUV on the Complete package while its text says full-size SUVs run $389. Get a written quote for your own vehicle.
