Illustration for Motorcycle Detailing Cost

Three things drive the price gap:

  • how much hand work is included
  • the bike’s size class
  • whether paint protection is part of the job

Here is what each tier buys, from five shops’ own published menus.

Prices are the shops’ own published starting prices, checked October 9, 2026. Most say the final price depends on the bike’s condition. How we gather and check prices: methodology.

What about $150 gets you

At this level you pay for a careful wash plus a quick protective layer. The Miami shop’s $60 to $80 hand wash includes bug and tar removal, air-blower drying, rim polish and carnauba wax. Its $110 to $140 express detail sits between the wash and the full detail.

The Fort Worth shop lists 1 to 1.5 hours for its $79 wash. Its $139 complete detail takes 2 to 3 hours. It adds a degreased underside and drivetrain plus hand-polished chrome. Mobile service adds $20 there, so the complete detail comes to $159 at your garage.

That fits a bike you ride often and keep fairly clean. It won’t remove swirl marks from a black tank or bring back pitted chrome.

What about $350 gets you

Around $350 pays for a full detail on a bigger bike, sometimes with room for an add-on. The Miami shop’s $249 touring full detail removes the saddlebags to clean inside them. It cleans and conditions the leather seat, tour-pack and bags. It also includes a light to moderate chrome polish.

The Massachusetts detailer starts touring bikes and baggers at $300. Every chrome surface is hand polished and the paint is finished in a sealant.

Add-ons push a quote up fast. The Fort Worth shop lists windscreen polishing and billet aluminum polishing at $75 and up each. Paint correction is $300. One western Colorado shop leaves chrome polishing out of its bike detail price entirely, because the work varies so much.

When the quote passes $500

That is coating territory. The San Diego detailer’s 3-year coating package runs from $499 for a sport bike to $799 for a touring bike. It starts with a clay bar treatment and a one-step paint polish. The Loveland shop charges $700 for its wash-and-wax package plus a 3-year coating. Its $1,200 lifetime coating adds paint correction and wheels. Why bikes cost more than their size suggests

A motorcycle has little paint but a lot of hand work. The chrome, spokes, engine cases and leather can’t be done with a big polisher. One shop owner in a detailer forum thread (2017) had quoted $500 to $700 to detail and coat a bike. The owner said a bike takes as long as a sedan, or longer. Another poster said one big touring bike took about 9 hours. Those are posters’ own accounts, not a standard.

Bike class matters too. Every shop that splits prices by type charges more for touring bikes than sport bikes. The gap runs from $20 at the Miami shop’s wash tier to $300 on the San Diego coating. Car pricing by size works the same way. See mobile detailing cost by vehicle size.

Where the bike lives can change what you need. The San Diego detailer pitches sealants against coastal salt air and strong UV. The Massachusetts detailer books mobile work April through November and offers limited services in winter. If you ride through a salted winter, see our guide to keeping corrosion off a motorcycle.

Before you book

  • Ask what’s in the price. Chrome polishing, saddlebag interiors and leather care are included on some menus and extra on others.
  • Say what bike class you ride. A touring bike quoted at a sport-bike price will change on the day.
  • Ask about tires. One shop says it cleans tires only, with no shine product on the contact surfaces, for safety. Makers’ washing rules are in our guide to washing a motorcycle without soaking the electrics.
  • Check the mobile fee and weather policy. Our guide on how to find a reliable mobile detailer lists more questions to ask.
